October is a spooky time

From the Pastor

October is a spooky time. The entire month seems to be devoted to the “celebration” on the last day, with its concomitant ghouls and goblins, tombstones and cobwebs, witches and haunted houses. Kids look forward to the candy they will receive, but the macabre basis of it all plays on our fear of death.

Forty Days to a New You?

From the Pastor

How long does it take to form a new habit? From the first page of
Google search results you’ll find wildly different answers, ranging from
21 days to a month to 66 days to six months. You don’t have to go too
far to find attempts to blend Christianity with pop psychology, yielding
assertions that the 40 days of Lent offer God’s way of breaking old
habits and forming new ones.

Thank You from Dutchess Outreach

Dear OSLC,

The 2010 Coat Drive and Giveaway in memory of Susan
DeKeukelaere was a great success thanks to your
assistance collecting and distributing coats. A total of
approximately 5,000 coats was collected and distributed
at eight locations. This year distribution locations were
added in Rhinebeck and at your church, increasing our
ability to give coats to the people who need them
throughout Dutchess County.
